Alternative names: Special Committee on Aging, Special Senate Committee on Aging Established on January 3rd, 1961, as a temporary committee, this Committee was granted its permanent status on February 1, 1977. The Senate Special Committee on Aging has jurisdiction over studying issues related to older Americans, particularly Medicare and Social Security, and oversight of the Medicare program, Social Security and the Older Americans Act.
