Brief Executive Summary
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, House Committee on Armed Services, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, The House Committee on the Judiciary, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence investigated across five House Committees concerning the terrorist attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. The inquiry was initiated after four U.S. personnel were killed by armed militias in Benghazi. The committees found that the highest levels of the State Department were unaware of the dangers in Benghazi, and found evidence that the Department attempted to insulate themselves from blame following the attacks.
