Brief Executive Summary
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform investigated prescription drug affordability for senior citizens in Florida. The report was based off of surveys of Florida Medicare recipients conducted by researchers at the New England Medical Center in 1998 and 1999. Ultimately, the investigation found that over 40% of Florida seniors lacked prescription drug coverage in 1999, a figure that was increasingly rapidly. Similarly, they found many Florida seniors were struggling to afford their prescription drugs.
